TO HAVE AND TO HOLD
Why should we care about something physical in an era of digital memory keeping? My solo BFA exhibition To Have and To Hold is an exploration of my everyday relationship with paper and its connection to sentimentality.
Looking for a way to create a tactile and intimate representation of my love for paper, I wrote content for, designed, printed, and assembled three books/zines which vary in size and style. Each one was printed using a combination of risograph and inkjet printing.
In the spirit of introducing more physical paper into people's lives, free copies of “I LOVE MAIL” were distributed at my closing reception in addition to flyers and bookmarks. Custom note cards were provided for visitors to leave me a hand-written message.
